The so called reverend Jerry Falwell is chancellor of Liberty University in Lynchburg Va. Who knows where the name Lynchburg came from? But, I can certainly picture Falwell in a hooded Klan disguise in an earlier time preaching some distorted religious mumbo jumbo to justify a racial lynching. "Oh what a low blow", "you liberals just go to far" I can hear you saying. But this religious crack pot was openly" in favor of Southern segregation. He encouraged American Christians to invest in apartheid South Africa. He asserted that Aids is God's way of punishing homosexuals. And more recently he suggested that the blame for 9/11 lies at least partly with 'the pagans',' the abortionists', the 'feminists', the 'gays' and the 'People for the American Way".....Just like his other American Mullah peers, Pat Robertson and James Dobson, when he gets questionioned by the media on his despicable intolerant, un-American, right ring "family values" beliefs such as these he tries to back pedal. But the hood is off on these guys to anybody observing them with an IQ over 95..........So what the heck kind of University could he be chancellor of and what kind of brainwashed idiots go there and eventually graduate? Well I can't answer that, I can only assume "you get what you pay for" when you graduate from a college founded by this intolerant, phony man of God, Falwell. One thing you can be sure there aint no Democrats graduating from Liberty University. And we can thank God for that............Well yesterday, none other, than the biggest ass kissing Republican presidential candidate, John McCain, puckered up again, throwing away what little ounce of character he once had, and gave the commencement address, with ol Jerry at his side. Yes, this is the same McCain who once described Falwell as "an agent of intolerance" and a threat to the Republican Party. Talk about "flip flop". This is the same McCain who got torn to shreds by Bush and Rove in the South Carolina Republican primary in 2000. They even cast doubts on his courage as a prisoner of war in Nam (a now familar tactic of Bush and Rove) yet yesterday, McCain had to pull his lips off of Rove's butt long enough to plant them securely on the Rev. Falwell's bountiful butt in pursuit of the Republican nomination in 08. What is it with these Republicans and their pursuit of political power and eventual abuse of power? All those liberals and independants who think of McCain as different than Bush and Cheney and Rove; a candidate with integrity, better get their heads examined before November 08.

Helen Thomas, you know her, the senior citizen journalist who has been asking relevant questions of Presidents since W was in diapers, recently asked W a question he had no answer to "Why did you invade Iraq, Mr. President? Which he really had no answer for. She recently wrote a syndicated newspaper article "Where are all the leaders of faith" comparing the anti-Vietnam movement leaders many of them religious leaders as well, to the invisibility of the clergy in the opposition to the mess in Iraq. She says most of the clergy today are in the same boat as the news media and most members of Congress, "They are victims of post 9/11 syndrome that equates any criticism of U.S. policy with lack of patriotism". What she fails to point out about this equation is it was created by karl Rove and the President's advisors post 9/11 as a very effective political exploitation even extortion tool to allow their abuse of Presidential power................. Helen talks about one courageous religious leader, who passed away last month Rev. William Sloane Coffin. He was a Presbyterian minister, chaplin at Yale University and pastor at Riverside Church in New York. He came from money, went to Ivy League schools, served in WWII and even worked for the CIA. Not your typical background for a leader in liberal causes. He marched with Martin in the south in the 60s for equal rights, and was a leader of the anti-Vietnam war movement. In one of his last writings he described the war in Iraq "The war against Iraq is as disasterous as it is unnecessary; perhaps in terms of it's wisdom, purpose, and motives, the worst war in American history. Our military men and women were not called to defend America, but rather to attack Iraq. They were not called to die for America , but rather to kill for their country. What more unpatriotic thing could we have asked of our sons and daughters?"..............Why can't we have one Democratic leader capable of defining patriotism this way?
